We've Got Work To Do

80% of California's Black Male Students 4th Graders cannot pass the state's reading proficiency examination. Overall in Grades K-12, the percentage is 76% for Black Male Students in the State of California. These statistics are or should be appalling, unacceptable, and immediately reversed. Take a trip with me this afternoon down the road to a possible future based on the Covenants for Black America and the development of Freedom Teams. We must not allow our black boys to be clustered into groups of educational stigmatized failures. You should know that this country uses reading levels of 9-10-years as one measure to determine future prison populations. The attack on black males is real. We must do something NOW, pick up a book my brothers and read it aloud today to someone young or old.
