Salute Mr. Paul Laurence Dunbar
Paul Laurence Dunbar lived on this planet for 33 years, born in Dayton Ohio, was friends with the Wright Brothers, Frederick Douglass, and Booker T. Washington. Mr. Dunbar, a graduate of Howard University was the very first published author to use writing as his sole occupation. His works spread out over almost 3 decades. Paul Laurence Dunbar began writing as early as the age of 6 and wrote until the last breath left his body. He was one of our nation's greatest writers and his words will last an eternity. Join me today as I salute this magnificent creator of verse and prose. In his words, my voice, Mr. Paul Laurence Dunbar, knowing that our black history need not ever be a black mystery.
Continuation of my salute to Paul Laurence Dunbar who in my opinion is one of the world’s greatest wordsmith. He lived on the planet as long as Jesus of Nazareth, he wasn’t stuck down by a murderous fate. His death didn’t stop this brother's legacy from being great. Go to any major city and you are likely to find that Dunbar High School’s students are quite refined, defined, and are not likely to be maligned. The spirit of PLD’s soul in still prevalent and relevant in these times as there were in the times of his life. PLD simply died because he gave all he could give and it was his time. So as I conclude my tribute to this incredible wordsmith, I continue my salute in his words, my voice, always remembering that our black history need not ever be a black mystery.
