Thursday Night's Queen, Remembering Josephine Baker

Josephine Baker was the "only" female who gave a speech on August 28, 1963. The male-dominated list of speakers who addressed the throng of people from that historic podium didn't reflect the black women who were instrumental in the Civil Rights Movement. Yet, Josephine Baker was given the opportunity to address the crowd that August day. Her speech was impactful, powerful and gave a feminine touch to an otherwise male rostrum of speakers. In Josephine Baker's words, my voice.
