Celebrating 98th Birthday Of The Negro National Baseball League

On January 4, 1920, Rube Foster organized the Negro National Baseball League. This allowed black baseball players to exhibit their remarkable skills to a national public audience. The Major Leagues forbid black players from competing in America's pastime. It wasn't until 27 years later that Jackie Robinson crossed the color line and the game of baseball was never the same. Yet. the heroic players of the Negro Baseball Leagues were defiant stars in their own right. The Black Blogger celebrates Rube Foster's imaginative mind that opened baseball's door to the black stars of yesteryears.
