The Black Blogger Reads Rev. Ralph D. Abernathy May 8, 1968

Reverend Ralph David Abernathy spoke of the power of the black soul to defeat the enemies of racism and oppression at the Poor People Campaign in Washington DC.

A month and 4 days after Dr. King's murder in Memphis, Rev. Abernathy mustered all the courage to keep Dr. King's dream of economic equality for all Americans alive. He was unsuccessful in his attempt but it wasn't for lack of effort. It just seemed that all the air of justice sipped out of the balloon of justice and ever since 1968 poor blacks have made no meaningful progress.
