The Black Blogger Salutes Our Ancestor Asa Phillip Randolph Who Sought An Organized Black Community

22 YEARS BEFORE THE HISTORIC MARCH FOR JOBS AND FREEDOM ON AUGUST 28, 1963, ASA PHILLIP RANDOLPH PROPOSED A MONUMENTAL MARCH FOR BLACK AMERICANS TO TAKE PLACE IN MAY, 1941. TODAY, I GO BACK TO THE MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THAT MARCH WHICH WAS CALLED WHEN PRESIDENT FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT ISSUED EXECUTIVE ORDER 8802 WHICH OPENED OPPORTUNITIES FOR BLACKS TO WORK IN PLANTS MANUFACTURING MILITARY ARMS AS WELL AS JOBS IN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES WITHOUT DISCRIMINATORY PRACTICES THAT HAD DENIED THEM OPPORTUNITIES.
