The Black Blogger: Presents: REV. FRANCIS J. GRIMKE 11/20/1898 THE NEGRO WILL NEVER ACQUIESCE

Two years after the Plessey vs.Ferguson decision locked down black communities into a second-class citizenship status, a powerful voice in this nation's capital spoke up for constant agitation. Today, The Black Blogger celebrates Reverend Francis J. Grimke, who 120 years ago today made a powerful speech that shook the walls of injustice.
On November 20, 1898, 120 years ago Rev. Francis J. Grimke of Washington DC spoke to the "gospel truth" to white institutional supremacist power on the black man's total and defiant determination never to give into the struggle. You cannot accommodate your way to first-class citizenship or equality. Nor can you except to disrupt the status quo without shaking some mighty big oak trees stationed to keep your community locked down and locked out!
