Nnamdi Azikiwe, future first President of Nigeria, delivers an address to his fellow fraternity members at the Banneker High School Auditorium, Washington, D.C., on December 27, 1949, at the 35th Anniversary of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. Nnamdi Azikiwe began his presidency as the first president of independent Nigeria in 1963. He received his ​college education from Storer College, Howard University, Lincoln University and the University of Pennsylvania.

Nnamdi Azikiwe was the perfect symbol of Kujichagulai for peoples of color throughout the world.
