Project Uplift Literacy In Their Words My Voice W.E.B. Du Bois “Men of Niagara”

Today I will travel back 110 years to the words again of one of the greatest intellectuals that ever graced the planet and this nation. W.E.B. DuBois who in the second year of the Niagara Movement addressed the civil rights activists in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Why Harpers Ferry? In was in that town on October 16, 1859, that a resounding blow was struck by John Brown against the enforced servitude of black people in this nation which ultimately led to the Civil War. Yes, we as a people have traveled quite a distance since this speech was given. Yet, in reality, we have so far to go. In many ways, we are still suffering from the same racially motivated sicknesses that prevailed in this nation 110 years ago today. READ READ READ never ever mitigate the importance of being able to READ.
