Who then will speak for the common good? In Their Words My Voice, Congresswoman Barbara Jordan
First elected black member of Congress from the state of Texas. Barbara Jordan spoke out for the oppressed and disenfranchised, Barbara Jordan was dynamic, forceful, as well as brilliant. She truly was not a person to be trifled with or ignored. She commanded immediate attention any time she entered the room. Forty years ago on a summer night in New York City, she was the keynote speaker at the Democratic National Convention in New York City. God clearly broke the mode when he produced this woman Barbara Jordan, and oh how America cherishes someone like her today.
