Project Uplift Literacy, In His Words My Voice

On the centennial anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation​, James Baldwin wrote this letter to his then 15-year-old nephew it is a letter that every American should read no matter their color or creed. Its contents are still relevant today 54 years after it was first published in Jame Baldwin's powerful book The Fire Next Time. We all must understand the savagery​ and senselessness of racism and bigotry​. Otherwise, we doomed continuing to repeat the insanity of racial hatred. The very time I thought I was lost, My dungeon shook and my chains fell off.
