Salute To Amiri Baraka, In His Words, My Voice, Black Genius & Warrior
AMIRI BARAKA
I’ll bring ten written by his pen
Meant to move the strongest of black men
After you hear them just say amen
Mr. Baraka come again
Just bring with you that powerful quill pen
We need your ancestral justice voice once again
Last Saturday I read Somebody Blew Up America, Amiri Baraka’s powerful poem written after the planes flew into the towers in New York City. Today, after I doing Etheridge Knight, who was writing at the same time as Amiri Baraka during the Black Arts Movement I decided to speak in my voice, his words, ten of his poetic selections today. Please enjoy them as always, our black history need not ever be a black mystery.
