We Fought and Sought For Freedom
This month I am reading Never Caught, The Relentless Pursuit Of Ona Maria Judge By George and Martha Washington on Project Uplift Literacy. It speaks of the invisible track of freedom's path by those enslaved ancestors who sought and fought for freedom. They decided that they would rather be buried in their graves than to die shackled as a slave. Well, today I pay homage to four conductors who risked life and limb to assist those who sought freedom. I created a tribute poem and along with the Ohio Players, I focus on this one thought that they had "I wanna be free" as I salute "all aboard" the railroad with invisible freedom tracks. As our black history need not be a black mystery.
