1828 - David Walker - In His Words, My Voice

In his words, my voice David Walker gave this remarkable speech “The Necessity of A General Union Among Us” in Boston in 1828. Ancestor Walker was a free-born black man from Wilmington, North Carolina whose APPEAL pamphlet was one of the very first documented papers that foretold of an insurrection if slavery wasn't abolished in this country. Today I salute this remarkable warrior who fought for absolute freedom for people of color while on this planet for 34 years. Remembering always that our black history need not ever be a black mystery.
