The Lacks Family Stand In Line
To the Henrietta Lacks Family, I'm sorry for the circumstances that your ancestor Henrietta Lacks had to suffer after her death. Truly she was certainly taken advantage of without her family members receiving any meaningful and lasting compensation for her sacrifice.
Yet, just like the rest of Black Americans waiting for reparations for damages done to their ancestors. You each have to understand that repayment by those indicted for crimes against humanity/ancestors will never come nor will anyone confess to those horrid sins. It isn't Oprah Winfrey's job to make things right either judicially or economically for Black Americans who were wronged by the ills of past racist behavior.
Ms. Winfrey is simply one of the few of us able to pull themselves out of this prejudiced society to make a way out of hell's way. You see Oprah Winfrey was herself surrounded in essence by multiple barriers that shouted NO DAMN WAY, my sister. I thank Ms. Oprah Winfrey for bringing to the screen the story of Henrietta Lacks, who could have easily been my mother, or my grandmother since both of them succumbed at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore City, Maryland.
