The Congressional Black Caucus
47 years ago in our Nation's Capitol, the CBC was founded. This alliance of Black Congressmen and Black US Senators aligned to promote those policies essential to the growth of people of color in this nation. Today I celebrate the founding by going back another 44 years as a reread Congressman Walter Fauntroy's keynote speech at the NAACP's National Convention in New Orleans related to tax reform. Understanding that past history defines today's history if we can only take the time to comprehend it. It is my hope that Congressman Fauntroy has reached a place of mental peace today because he surely deserves it.
