Celebrating Countee Cullen

Two remarkable black poets who were instrumental in the historic movement of blacks arts passed on January 9 separated by sixty-years, Countee Cullen and Amira Baraka. Countee Cullen was an instrumental figure in the great Negro Renaissance of the 1920s-1930s, while Amira Baraka was a central figure in the Black Arts Movement of the 1960s-1970s. Both of these magnificent black word artists was dynamic word artist who lifted black consciousness in communities across this nation. Today, JoeSmokeBlackThoughts, will celebrate the lives of both Countee Cullen and Amira Baraka by reading aloud some of the works of these two masters.
